Christmas Day, 1994

I got back in good shape and did find that my car was ready, my cat was healthy and my warehouse space hadn't burned down in my absence. I picked up work much where I left off.

Business has been going well ever since I started working for myself in '89. My original plan was to move to Paris this past spring. A new girlfriend sort of interfered with my plans.

As it sits now, I'll probably split my time between Silicon Valley and Paris. I no longer seek the almighty dollar with the same dedication I had a couple of years ago. I've realized that the increased money doesn't bring happiness and I've been allowing life to pass me by unnoticed and sometimes unappreciated.

I had originally intended to record my trip in an electronic format and put it on a CD. At that time, I was unaware of the existence of the WWW other than as a curiousity. Of course, my interest was piqued a few months back when I picked up an alpha version of NCSA Mosaic. Things really kicked into high gear when I decided to learn how to author HTML documents.

There seems to be a natural synergy between my interests in multimedia and in writing. The World Wide Web is growing with unexpected speed and I decided several months ago to take up authoring home pages for other companies. To this end, I've expanded my one-man company to include a secretary and a business partner (who has great talent as a graphic artist).

One of the promises of the Web is that I should be able to remain in contact, and indeed, in business anywhere I choose to live in the first world. I hope that I'll sign my next significant travel document with a Paris address.

This Project

Well, this project nears some form of completion. At least, the alpha version. I have yet to add the image map and navigation buttons (as you have already discovered, navigation is only serial). I plan to add a bunch of html code to provide explanatory notes on a lot of the images I've included (as well as audio tracks) and a guest book for visitors to these pages.

I imagine it may take a month or two yet for me to get around to these additions. Not surprising, considering it took me over a year to get around to scanning in my images.

Well, bon chance, and thanks for visiting.
