I think it's hilarious that Fox News is considered a serious news outlet by anyone in this country. I went to their site this evening looking for election coverage and found this article on Al Fraken's new play, "Rolling Thunder".
It is, of course, hyper-critical of the Bush administration. I thought it was quite telling that when I loaded up the article the first thing I saw on the page was an advertisement by the Republican National Committee for Bush's Compassionate Conservatism. (This can't be an accident, says I).
I was rolling on the floor reading the last line of the article, " Click here to watch a fair and balanced report by Fox News' Anita Vogel."
All I can imagine is that Fox News is poking fun at themselves, 'cause they just cannot be serious.
Posted by artandscience at February 17, 2004 07:43 PMFox news makes its mark not by "fair" reporting, but by being entertaining. It's famous because its lively. Anyone with an IQ of over 50 could see they are incredibly biased. The most biased news station I have ever met
Posted by: Arkady at June 11, 2004 06:15 AMWell.. I was just objecting to their tag line. My mother (grew up under Nazi occupation) is pretty darn right wing and my father is quite liberal. So we have to laugh that she just loves Fox. She is very well educated (3 degrees plus a thorough classical education) and she sees the obvious bias. But she loves it because it is much more right wing than the current mainstream media.
I suppose that they had to take a stance. It did bother me that it was the one news service I was able to get in France other than CNN and the BBC. While I regard the latter two as fairly well balanced I shudder to think that most Europeans see Fox as representing American views.
Though, in truth, they probably represent the views (however uneducated) of at least 50% of the population.
