Boy, not even into the fourth hour of 24, and it's torture porn all over again. The plot is very predictable (I don't know if I have the patience to sit through the eventual plot dennouements). Already, people are being tortured.
There are false dilemmas (give up invading or have thousands of Americans killed) as well as improbable shifts in loyalty.
When I contrast the hackneyed plot devices of 24 against the more thoughtful screenwriting of the Unit, I find myself saddened at the difference in quality. Given the writers on both shows, I had expected better of 24. But every season it disappoints, seemingly earlier in the story arc every time.
About ready to give up on it.
